Renovations: Another First for Copper Island
Copper Island Fine Homes has achieved another first: it’s become the first builder in the Shuswap to achieve the Canadian Home Builder Association (CHBA) Certified Renovator and Registered Renovation Professional Certifications.
These designations mean that Copper Island has met CHBA’s high standards for ethics, experience, education, business practice and consumer protection as they relate to the home renovation industry.
In order to obtain the designation of Certified Renovator, a company must meet a number of criteria. For example, it must provide proof that the owner of the company has at least five years experience in renovation and general contracting, have had CHBA membership in good standing for two years, agree to abide by CHBA-BC Code of Ethics and other standards such as the Residential Construction Performance Guidelines as set by CHBA-BC, provide proof to CHBA-BC of having $2 million liability coverage, and provide a one year warranty on all completed projects.
Certification allows renovators to demonstrate compliance with high standards established by a credible third-party. Certification also provides the Association with a vehicle for disciplining unethical or incompetent renovators. The certification program can also be used to ensure an ongoing commitment to continuing education by requiring all certified renovators to enroll yearly in suitable courses related to building and business practice.
If you’re considering a home renovation, consider giving a call to the only CHBA Certified Renovator and Registered Renovation Professional in the Shuswap: Copper Island Fine Homes.
