In the past couple of weeks, we’ve broken new ground for a custom home in the Highlands subdivision of Shuswap Lake Estates.

The Highlands has stunning views to the north and east, looking out over Copper Island and the Shuswap Lake. The home is close to the top of the subdivision and has been designed to take advantage of these views from all main living areas and deck spaces.

This daylight basement rancher will offer approximately 2,500 square feet of finished living space, with generous front decks on both levels. A huge, detached triple car garage (972 square feet) will provide storage space for vehicles and toys, as well workshop space. It’s connected to the main house via a breezeway.

To prepare for construction, we’ve been working hard to get the site excavated and graded, with retaining walls installed to provide a level back yard area against the backdrop of the hill above. We fully expect the regional district’s road bans to be in place this coming week, which will restrict our ability to bring in heavy loads for the weeks ahead. But when the road bans are lifted, we’ll have footings and foundations formed and ready for concrete.

You can see the work completed to date in the photo below. Our thanks to our excavation contractor for this project, Mac and his crew from Traxx Excavating, who have worked hard and smart to ready the site for the foundation. More details and photos coming soon.
